Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if someone could PLEASE give me some info/insite on spinal stenosis. My sister has this, but she is a verrry private person and also the type of person that would NOT want to upset me or give me something else to worry about, since I have a full plate already with my RSD and being the caregiver for my husband who is on ss medical disability. I was happy to just find this out, which she let slip before she knew it. I respect her being a private person and trying to protect me (I know she loves me verrry much), but also worry about her anyways. I don't know if there are different types of spinal stenosis, but I do know that she takes injections and told me her doctor didn't feel that she needed to see PM doctor, which I feel is kinda odd since this would be something that PM would take care of, maybe she's not that far along yet to need a PM doctor, I just don't know.

I do love her verrrry much and don't want to rock the boat, or she will just clam up all togeather and tell me nothing as all. Please just let me know a little about this condition, I have been on the internet as well, but would much rather speak w/someone here that has this, as talking here makes me feel sooooo much better than trying to find info on internet.
condition. Any info would be welcome. Thanks.................and I look forward to hearing back from some of you.................

>>>> If you have been doing some research, then you know that spinal stenosis is simply pressure on a nerve. There are different places and reasons for this....scar tissue is one, bone spurs is another, an d herniated disc can cause it.

I am sorry that your sister won't open up and talk to you about her condition. Tell her that it worries you more not to know what is going on than the truth ever could.

I don't know how many injections she has gotten, but one should never have more then 3-4 a year as the steroiRAB can cause their own problems which can be pretty nasty....bone thinning, high blood pressure, and others. A PM doctor most likely could better place these injections; however, I think she should find a different spine specialist. Nerves being compressed never get better, they only get worse. He doctor does not seem to be the most versed in treatment......my hope would be that she find an orthopedic spine specialist or a neurosurgeon who specializes in the spine. .. not just a regular neuro or ortho. I don't know how you can tell her this, but I hope you can find a why to break through. A sister can be your very best friend and biggest supporter! I know that for a fact!

Please let us know how things go for her and you too.

Carol
