Okay, here's how far I've gotten and I know I'm just doing something silly...

The expression is:

y
_________ +
y^2-10y+25

y-4
_____
2y-10

So, I know the LCD is 2(y-5)(y-5) which leaves the expression =

2y
________ +
2(y-5)(y-5)

(y-4)(y-5)
________
2(y-5)(y-5)

But here's my problem... I'm starting to get all the rules mixed up... Do I next FOIL and get

y^2-9y+20
________
y(y-5)(y-5)

for the second term or do I try to add 2y then distribute before I FOIL?

If I FOIL which I thought initially was the correct thing, I come up with

2y+y^2-9y+20
___________
2(y-5)(y-5)

which ends up being

y^2-7y+20
________
2(y-5)(y-5)

and I feel like this is wrong... like I should be able to simplify it more...

Can anyone see what I'm doing incorrectly and help me?

Thank you!
