help sidekick 4g custom recovery!!!?

So just got my phone and trying to mess with it root it and put a custom recovery but for some reason its not working. Im used to rooting and recovery and stuff have done this alot to all my phones but for some reason having trouble with sidekick 4g i was able to root it real easy but when i got to recovery it got me stumped i had replaced the binary by copying pasting and did everything right but when i got to rom manger its not working it keeps giving me the basic recovery mode and i need to know what i am doing wrong so someone help! thank you
