HELP! Should I major in Pre-Med or Psychology?

I'm lost. I love psychology, and I had my heart set on being a counselor or clinical psychologist, but now I'm feeling kind of fickle about it all. I recently talked with a counselor about his job and he said that he only made around 40,000 a year. And that is not the way I want to roll. I really want to help people, but 40 grand is not going to keep me very financially secure. Plus, I'm starting to wonder if after a while I'm going to get fed up and annoyed with a bunch of depressed people, sitting there listening to all of their problems everyday. It just might make me go crazy.

On the other hand, there's Pre-Med. I could become a doctor. Doctors make a ton of money, and I'd be extremely secure. However, it would be about 8 years of schooling, plus 3 years residency. Which means there will be a lot of loans to pay back. And I don't know how much I would enjoy it.

I need help. Does anyone have any advice for me on this?
