Hi does anyone know what this means

" There is minor stress induced changed noted involving the lurabosacral facet joints but no pars defect is identified. L5/S1"

I have had nurab feet now for two weeks it changes depending on how I sit etc. I also get pins and needles every now and then too. My right thigh is nurab and I am sort of nurab around my pelvic area.

Could a CT scan pick up pinched nerves etc or should I be asking for a more in depth scan.

My physical therapist says that it's pinched nerves and my whole lower half is inflamed?

Hi Sophie. Are you seeing a dr. for this? You can't rely on a physical therapist for a diagnosis! They are not trained to do so, tho they have a lot of knowledge. A ct scan usually shows nerve impingement, but you might need one with contrast.

Are you seeing someone such as an Orthopedic Spine Specialist or a Neurosurgeon who specializes in the spine? That is the kind of dr. you need to have as they are the best at finding problems that others might miss. They also are best equipped to order the right tests and and to then evaluate what kind of treatment you need. Keep in mind that surgery should be the last option unless there is nerve impingement. Either way, you should get a second opinion.

Is that the only finding on the ct scan? Do you have any condition you are aware of that could cause this tingling and nurabness, such as diabetes because your scan is pretty normal. I still think you need to see a spine specialist to be sure nothing more is going on.

Best of luck....and please let me know how you do.

Carol
