Hello. I am looking for help reading my MRI report as my doctor was vague while explaining it to me and honestly, it did not make any sense. I’ve included snips of the report that I did not understand and any help is appreciated.

“Minimal spondylotic changes. Posterior osteophytic ridging at the T10-T11 and T11-T12 levels is causing slight deformity of the spinal cord along the left anterolateral aspect at T10-T11 and on the right anterolateral aspect at T11-T12. The spondylotic changes are also causing mild left T10-T11 and mild bilateral L3-L4 and L4-L5 neural forminal narrowing.”

“Small schmorl’s node deformity present”

“It is hypoplastic and immobile”

“Asymmetrial posterior osteophytic ridging, causing mild central stenosis and slight flattening of the spinal cord”

spondylotic changes are usually changes due to advancing age although they can be advanced in younger people as wall this is when they cause problems, as they will advance as you get older, they are due to increased bone growth, and take the form of ridges, and spurs on the vertebra.

"Posterior osteophytic ridging" they are just being more specific about the spondylotic changes, you have bony ridges forming on the back of the vertebra this causing some deformity in your spinal cord at T10-T11 this is at the level at your navel.

"T10-T11 and mild bilateral L3-L4 and L4-L5 neural forminal narrowing" the neural foramina are grooves in the side towarRAB the back of your vertebra that the nerves coarse out of these have narrowed due to the extra bone growth.

Thank you so much for the translation! Now how the heck is this happening in a 18 year old! AAH!

Could you help me with some terms in my MRI Report?

"Examination shows extradual mass which fills the right lateral recess just superior to the L2 -3 interspace producing moderate compression against the anterolateral aspect of the thecal sac on its right side and compromise of the right neural foramen. The post contrast portion of the study shows enhancement within the mass with nonenhancing center. The position of the mass in the extradural space within the medial aspect of the right neural foramen and its enhancing characteristics suggest a differential diagnoissi of either a meningioma or a nerve sheath tumor such as a schwanoma. There is no disk herniation or other evidence of compromise of the spinal canal or neural formina at any other level throughout the lurabar region. There is a 1cm, extradual, enhancing mass within the right neural foramen and right lateral recess at L2-3. Extruded disk materail is felt to be less likely. The vertebral bodies, intervertebral disk and paraspinal structures are normal."

Can you explain what all this means?

Thanks!
