ok, so i just got this guppy at petsmart, and wen i took him home he was swimming around and doing fine. A few hours later, he was laying at the bottom of the tank doing nothing. Hes still breathing and stuff, hes just REALLY inactive and not doing anything at all. And wats strange is wen i put him on the bathroom counter to try to make his water more room temperature, he started swimming regularly. Well wenever we turn on the light in our bathroom, the fan automatically turns on so i was thinking it was just because the noise of the fan scared him. But the thing is, wen i moved him back in my room, he swam back to the bottom and did nothing! is there something wrong with him???? help!

How long has this tank been set-up before you put the guppy in it? Did you cycle the tank or just put the guppy in there? Also, how big is this tank? It sounds like it is too small if your able to pick it up and move it around.

You need to get a 10 gallon tank, with a heater, light and filter. You also need to cycle the tank. This means you need to allow the tank to build up a healthy bacteria system before adding fish. This can take around 15-30 days. I usually add live plants to help speed up the process.

If you do have all this and you did cycle the tank, then I do not know what is wrong with your guppy. BUT most likely you need to follow the steps above and do some research before you buy fish.

Good Luck!

When you put him on the bathroom counter...?!?!?!!?!?!!? You're taking him OUT of the tank to add more water..??

You've only just bought him, and you're taking him out of the tank, moving the tank about, adding water... no wonder the poor fella's a bit stressed...

Sounds like you need to learn ALOT more about fishkeeping before you buy any more fish....
