So i was sick for 4 days and my chem teacher gave me an assignment to work on while i was sick. This question is really hard and I really need help!:
How many grams of air are required for an automobile to travel from Thunder Bay, Ontario, to Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario? This is a distance of 670km. Assume the following:
- Gasoline is pure octane, C8H18 (Gasoline is actually a mixture of hydrocarbons.)
- The average fuel consumption is 10L per 100km
- Air has a density of 1.21 g/L
- The density of the gasoline is 0.703g/mL.
The balanced chemical equation for the complete combustion of octane is:
2C8H18(l)+25O2(g)--> 16CO2(g)+18H2O(g)
