Help please, really rapid breathing in my tropical fish tank ?

Hello.

I feel very stressed. Fish never work out for me.

I have a mixture of barbs, 9 to exact, in a 23 gallon tank. It has been running for about 4 months.

I have had one fish die already, which I believe was due to the others bullying it as it was smaller. Now I have another one which appears to have swim bladder and are therfore treating that one at the minute.

As for the rest, there breathing is very rapid. They breath with big open gobs and there pectoral fins also twitch like mad.

In the day they dont seem as bad, and I don't believe this is an oxygen problem as there not at the surface. I have tested the water and it all appears fine. I added ammonia remover anyway . The fish also appear stoof still on a slant.

The only problem I can see it being is the tap conditioner as this was purchased of ebay, but this would be a long shit. .

Please help.... I want to go out tonight, but dont want to come back to a fish tank of dead fish. They have been like this for a week. It did not happen until I added 4 new fish at once/
