How can i get information on a painting i own without using an appraiser???
i don't want to go to an appraiser becuase 1- the expense, and 2- i'm more interested in knowning how old the peice is and anything about the artist rather than how much it can be insured for.
i have been researching online for a few months now hoping to find the artist (in order to date the painting) and the only thing i came across was another one of the artist's paintings (!!)

It is definetly the same artist (nearly identical signature, same period of style/subject, oil on canvas not on wood, but does not have the fancy frame).
any suggestions or amutuer apprasials??
on a side note- when you search the name d. garber, results are listed for daniel garber, a famous landscape artist who just so happened to live in my home town where this d. garber painting also resides. ironic and very, very frustrating.
