HELP! photography portfolio, Mac & PC gamma differences?

I'm currently a senior in high school applying to art colleges for photography. I have a question that's been frustrating me the past couple of days. I need to send my portfolio to the schools since some of them are far away. (I live in Ohio and one of the schools I'm applying to is SVA in nyc). I guess I have to send a disk to them or whatever. The point is, I won't be actually going to the school for a portfolio review because I live too far away. So, I edit all my photos on a Mac. And when I look at them on a PC, they're really dark because of the gamma differences and it makes my photos look...not BAD, but not nearly as good as they are. It's really frustrating. And my main concern is that the colleges who view my photos are going to see them differently than I do on my screen. I don't know what to do. I really hate this and it's the most frustrating thing EVER.
