The Embargo Act of 1807 was a violation of the principles of limited government that Jefferson had espoused prior to becoming president.

True of False

True.
At the time their was a big war between England and France. America had chosen to be neutral in this war (meaning they chose not to take sides). America continued to trade with both of the countries, the problem was that the British would capture American ships and force sailors into their army. Jefferson had this act created to protect American tradesmen and sailors. The act stopped trade between the United States and foreign nations. The problem was that this made all of these sailors, tradesmen, business owners out of jobs or at the very least with little income, thus it was repealed.
