Q. Two naturally occuring ores of copper are chalcosin, Cu2S. and covellite, CuS.
Copper can be extracted from covellite in two stages:
1. heating the ore in air to produce copper(l) oxide Cu2O and sulphur dioxide
2. heating the copper (l) Cu2O oxide with carbon
(i) Write an equation for stage 1
(ii) Write an equation for stage 2
(iii) What mass of copper can be obtained from 1000 tonnes of covellite, assuming a yield of 90%?
Please help me answer this question, i got a test coming soon and i can't figure out this question. Thanks.
