The fish hook idea isn't bad although not sure if I want to puncture the grill as it might be sealed for moisture resistance. The strong vacuum sounds like it might be a winner, I'll try that one first. If that won't work then I'll take the plunge and remove the fairing. I'm sure it won't be the last time I'll be doing that.
