Help needed for new job (bar promoter)?

hi, I am going for a job interview next week as a bar promoter but im not sure what exactly it is they do. I have got lots of experience as a bartender but I have never been a bar promoter.
What do they do? and what can I tell my possible future boss?
 
Im a college student and i know a lot of bar promoters make groups on facebook and myspace and try to get people to join those groups, especially college kids in the area and list specials going on (ladies in free if they wear pink, etc) and then there are always little flyers all over our cars, under our dorm doors, etc. im not sure what else it would entail, this is the best i can help you with!
