HELP NEEDED FINANCIAL CRISIS ANY IDEAS?

???

New member
I have just returned to work after a 3 month layoff. My wife only brings home $300 every paycheck due her wage being garnished to pay our bankruptcy. I just started working part time & we are barely getting by. I am willing to do odds jobs or take any advice on immediate help that I can get. I have reached out to my pastor and my calls are not returned. People have offered help but can not back up what they say or become suddenly unreachable. 2 full time positions have been offered to me but I can can't accept them because I don't have enough gas to last until they can pay me (they are cargo delivery jobs & i must pay my own gas). Do any of you reading this know of any agencies, churches, people, or organizations that can help us??? Thank you for whatever help that you can give us.

First of you'll need to think about ways you can cut costs, look into non-driving jobs close to home, perhaps?

Another option is to contact Social services, as hard as it might be on the ego to go on welfare it can be helpful and that's what it's there for, also I don't know where you live but there are a lot of churches that have national community service programs. Lutheran Social Services can be of help, they have a program called "fish" that helps provide groceries and household items. Also the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints has a social services program too that can be helpful. The Catholics also have programs, try looking into the Saint Vincent Du Paul society. They can help families cover rent costs.

Also there is no shame in taking a fastfood job or a service job somewhere like A movie Theater. I know they don't pay much but it's a pay check!

I know this next one might sound weird but in this economy it might be a good time for you to go back to school, you can get student aid, as well as other programs to help get you started again. If going back to school is not an option try something a little long distance, My husband always said that if we hit hard times he'd quite his job and become a truck driver or Merchant Marine, sure as a Merchant Marine he would be away 4 months a year but we'd have a stable income.

Edit: also if you have kids under 5 then check into WIC

Edit: Outlaw Josey Wales- don't be ignorant not all bankruptcies are the same and not all things can be wiped clean.

My husband and I are in a financial mess, too. He's been out of work since February, and I deliver newspapers every morning. I've had to "float" the gas charges...use the CREDIT option so they only take out $1, then pray like crazy that I will get money in the bank before the end of the 3rd day, when the charge hits my bank account.

I finally got a job today that starts on Monday, so I'm feeling relief there, but it still takes a while to get paid.

Have you looked to your county Social Services office for immediate cash aid? You could also apply for food stamps if you need them. I know...it's welfare and most people hate being on it, but it's there for situations like yours.

Good luck.

do you have paypal cause I would just love to donate money to you.

If you just went through bankruptcy your wages can not be garnished silly. That is why it is bankruptcy, they wipe out all debts.

I have an idea instead of scamming on Y!A try getting a job.
