I have a usb flash drive that i've been using for over a year and I have never had any problems with it so far. My laptop overheats a lot and has bad ventilation. So this morning I was running late and quickly needed to save a file onto my usb drive, but the computer never recognized it. I took it out and put it in again, but i got the same results. I took it out yet again and tried to close it, but the metal was extremely hot and burned my finger. I then looked at it for a little while and saw that the plastic started to turn slightly orange near the metal (its originally purple). I then waited for it to cool and tied to close it, and the end of the plastic casing moved around as if it was slightly melted.
I later tried to use it at my school and three different computers wont recognized it now when they always have in the past.
Does anyone have any idea if my flash drive literally fried itself or if it froze or died?
Is it the laptop's fault?
Is there anyway I could get my data and information off of it and possibly recover it???
