Please help, my sucky fish jumped out the tank yesterday. We don't know how long he was out for but when we picked him up he was bone dry. He was moving a tiny bit so we put him back in the tank and he then started swimming a bit. He looked quite stiff but today has been swimming around a bit and sucking on the side of the tank. His scales don't look very good, they're a bit white and in some parts a bit red/pink. Will this go away as his old dry scales come off n he grows new or do we need to get something to put in the water for him? Thanks

he should be fine. sucker fish are incredibly resiliant little critters. we had bought a tank a while ago off craigslist.... and the person didnt have anything to put the fish in since they were moving everything was packed up.... so we had to leave him in the tank with just a few inches of water. he was in the truck bed in the middle of winter for an hour and a half car ride home.... when we got home, he was like a popcicle. completely stiff.... no signs of life, he was even floating on his back.... we felt really bad, but we put him in a sandwich bag and floated him in our other tank just in case he was alive.... within 10 minutes, he started coming around. now he is as happy as can be.

anyway, my point is, i think he will be fine... sucker fish seem to go into a state of dormancy when faced with death.... if you are worried about his scales, buy some melafix at the petstore, it is good for scale and fin growth and healing. well i hope this helped i hope i didnt ramble for too long
