My iPod 5th Gen Nano is stuck displaying the apple screen. i have been able to restore it, format it, go into diagnostics mode, go into disk mode, basically it can do everything a normal iPod can do (even play music) except display anything other than an Apple.

Some extra info:
-it has firmware 1.0.2
-When i enter diagnostics mode, the back-light isn't on, and i have to enable high power to turn it on.
-When i try the color test, it just displays a black screen with "hit menu to exit!" at the bottom, and when i press select or play, it doesn't do anything, but i do have to press menu a couple of times to exit.
-it displays 0.00 mA under "current Charge Amps" whether its plugged in or not, though it does retain a charge.
like i said before, the only screens i can get it to display are the Diagnostics mode, Firewire Disk Mode, Low Battery, and Silver Apple. after i reset, if i continuously press the select button, it will play an album from the first artist in my song list (AC/DC) and not play any other artists. I'd really like for this to start working again, and no, i will not visit an apple store to hear some stupid made-up reason or warranty argument.
isaac, i tried eating a carrot, but it seems i am allergic to carrots, yet i didn't stop there. tried feeding the carrot to my ipod via HP jack, and cable Jack in various forms (pureed, minced, chopped) but neither have worked, but still open to all suggestions. Perhaps i should cut the blue wire, or press the A button?
(JK, btw, but it made me lol literally)
about 10 minutes ago, after being plugged in for about half an hour, iTunes automatically stated that my iPod is corrupted, and tried to restore it, but its been "restoring iPod" since then. maybe i'll leave it like that plugged in overnight and see what happens.
