Help! My 2000 Chevy Impala won't start?

I've had the car for about a year now and I've never had a problem. I've gotten the oil changed regularly and made sure there was enough coolant, always. I don't know much about cars, but yesterday I went to turn the car on and NOTHING happened at all. I could turn the key in the ignition, but absolutely nothing would happen. The power locks wouldn't even work. My uncle tried jump starting it for me, but it turns out that it wasn't my battery. The car still hasn't started. I'm going to get it towed tomorrow, but I'm afraid of what this is and how much it will cost. I don't have much money, but at the same time I can't afford to be without a car. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
 
there's many things that can cause a car to not start. first check to make sure the engine hasn't moved. my ex got in a wreck and his engine disconnected and wouldn't start.
