Hi i'm 20 years old and plan on joining the Army as an 11B with Airborne and RIP in my contract next year when i finish my degree in Criminal Justice. I am not in ROTC or any other officer training program for college, i'm just doing my own thing.

Anyway my question is how can i improve my run time. You see two weeks ago I ran my two miles in 13:51, which is the best score i achieved all summer. But over these past two weeks every time i ran my two miles i could only get it down to 14:00 flat.

As of right now my workout schedule consists of;

Monday- Two mile timed run

Tuesday- Two mile run at 9:00AM then 40-60 min Fartlek workout starting at 7:00pm when i get out of school.

Wednesday- 4 mile run

Thursday- 5 mile run

Friday- 5 mile run

Do you guys got any other ideas that would help knock my two miles down? My goal is to be running within the 12 min range by mid October.
Other PT scores:

Push ups 2 min= 75

Inclined Sit ups 2 min= 80

5 mile run= 35 mins

What's your ruck time?

I knew guys faster than you who couldn't carry a combat load further than a couple of miles. If you're wanting to do something in the 11 series, you need to put a ruck on your back, combat boots on your feet, and get moving.

Since you're already in good shape, 20% of your body weight should be a good start. You can work your way up.

As a Cav Scout, when we'd get ready to do an extended dismounted operation, we'd average over 100 lbs per person. That doesn't include doing it in cold weather. Add another 20-30 lbs for that.

Infantry soldiers carry more than that, so you better be worried about that sort of thing then how fast you can run in a pair of lightweight running shoes, a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.
