HELP!!! Methodology types and examples!!?

So my proff weants us to state the type of methodology we will be using in our upcoming essay (she wants us to state it in the abstract due tomorrow). I have searched and searched but cant find what different types of methodologies are used for, or what kinda questions the ask.. can someone help me out?
give me examples of what some are and how they research things etc
