converter or something else? Ok guys I have a 1998 Honda Accord Ex with a 2.3L V6 engine with an automatic transmission. One day driving in stop n go traffic my electronic indicator that tells me what drive I'm in shuts off but the car keep moving as if I just shift into neutral. Pushing the accelerator nothing happens, I shift one gear up into neutral and the drive light indicator comes back on into neutral and I put it back into D4 and keep going. This happened twice before I said enough parked it and had it towed to a transmission place. I had the transmission diagnosed and had the mechanical parts rebuilt. Getting the car back and driving it the day after, it happens again but with less frequency. But I take it on the interstate and it handles and shifts fine with no transmission failures. Drove it today in stop and go traffic and no problems. I take it by the place where I had the transmission worked on and with the check engine light on had the computer diagnose the problems. I was with the guy when he ran the computer and it said the catalytic converter is clogged and the car can't blow out the exhaust enough and that's why my car wants to shut itself off. Does anyone here owning an accord ever have this problem or know of this problem and what the solution is. I talked to my uncle who's pretty knowledgeable about cars and he doubts its the catalytic converter but still a transmission problem. Any input is appreciated.
