Help me with Financial aid?

ok heres the problem i applied for financial aide in the fall of last year but it was late getting there so i had to wait till spring to use it. the guy in the financial aid office told me it would just run over to the summer but insured me if i didnt go in the summer i can use it during the fall of this year.. is that true? can i still use that pell grant money? i still had a full semester worth 1250 left
