this is for a middle school debate, i am pro-gay marriage, can you help me refute my own arguments to help me improve them (:
-Everyone has the right to marriage
-Marriage started with the Pagans, not Christian, so the Christians should not be the ones deciding and changing the rules of marriage
-Marriage not only forces a couple to commit to each other but provides tax breaks, and countless rights as well.
-Marriage is a sacred bond between two people, it should not matter which gender marries which as long as there is a commitment and love.
-Gays are PEOPLE of the U.S. (this debate is only about gay marriage in the U.S.) who deserve the same rights as heterosexual people! Denying the basic rights of life and personal dignity to a minority is discrimination!
-Gays would be better off. Studies repeatedly show that homosexuals would be better off financially, emotionally, and psychologically.
-Everyone is created equal, and therefore everyone should be granted the same rights.
-Homosexuality is not a lifestyle choice, but a genetic predisposition.
-Marriage is a social institution that brings many privileges, not least of which is the financial aspect. This right should be granted to all.
