I live in North East England. The front of my house is a little bit too overlooked for my liking. I would like to plant a tree/shrub at the front to make it a bit more private.
The only problem is that I would like to plant the tree 1-2m away from the house as otherwise I will not get sufficient privacy as I am overlooked at an angle. Therefore roots are obviously a concern. The tree/shrub would ideally be 3m high and provide a lot of coverage.
I have had shrubs such as Rhododendrons, Fatsia, Acuba japonica, Eleagnus and Robinia suggested to me, but I am still unsure about the suitability of these shrubs due to the proximity to the house. My main priority is that the shrub does not cause any damage obviously.
I'm clueless on this subject, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
