Hello! I need a hundred more words and I can't quite think of anything else to say... >.<
After researching Dr. Mengele and becoming thoroughly repulsed, I’ve concluded that it is important for people to study him, but more generally the Holocaust. Dr. Mengele’s story show cases the more drastic side of the spectrum with the sick and twisted experiments he performed on the prisoners. In the beginning of Hitler’s reign, it was impossible for the Jews to believe such evil could exist within a human. Dr. Mengele is a prime example of the treachery-making his work, and the Holocaust in general, something that should never be forgotten.
Also, it is important to remember Mengele because of the way he used scientific method to further both a political agenda and to satisfy his sociopathic tendencies. This was someone who combined absolute power with the ability to inflict the cruelest of tortures.-And you thought Saw was gross? This is so very unfortunately real. It baffles me to think that some people reject the Holocaust as some ‘fabricated story.’ Out of the hundreds of pictures and documents found, the few I came across not only mentally scared me, but left me with an overwhelming feeling of sadness.
Doctors are supposed to represent health and our caretakers, someone who saves us when between life and death. The Nazi doctors violated the sacred trust placed in them by humanity. The most painful truth is that most of the doctors escaped their crimes against Humanity and were able to move forward in life, unlike that of their victims. So when you see news reports about mistreatment of prisoners, crimes against humanity, genocide, international courts, the rights of experiment subjects, the rights of experimental animals, the removal of political influence in the scientific community, you are seeing some of the results of Dr Mengele.
