I have Medicaid but there are VERY limited hospitals/offices that accept it within a 30 mile radius of my house. I live on my own as a college student, with no ties to family/relatives due to the oppressive Islamic culture and the abuse they put me through.
My friends are willing to drive me but I don't want to ask them to drive so far.
Medicaid oral surgeons are not good around here. One doesn't offer I.V. sedation and I have four impacted teeth with roots so I need it. One hospital has residents and the surgeon they gave me is 6 months fresh out of med school. Uhh, no.. Most likely they have to carve the bottom teeth out of the jawbone so I can't take chances. The other oral surgeon scared me so bad. Wouldn't even schedule a pre-op, was going to perform surgery just by meeting me & doing it based on xrays asap and the office was NOT CLEAN.
There's a surgeon near my house, very good rep, but cost for four teeth + I.V is $2,300ish. If I get an account with Care Credit I pay the balance off in a 6month period. My problem is I have been putting this surgery off for a year because I lost Medicaid for awhile, and when I could afford out of pocket, they reinstate my Medicaid but I LOST my job!! I have student loan money stashed in savings (about $5,000). Should I pay out of pocket, or go to one of the scary surgeons that take Medicaid?
