help making a board game for "the odyssey" book?

for my english class, we have to make a board game.
i know i don't want to make it like monopoly.
i'm thinking about making it like candy land....
what do you think about making it like candy land?
and instead of putting like the gum drops and stuff, i could put like the cyclopes and stuff...
but i don't know...
any suggestions?
