Help! Introduction for history paper?

I'm writing a paper on how history is never solid fact and how it will usually be an interpretation of the authors/makers of history. I have specific examples of what I'm writing on, but I don't know how to start the paper.

Any help is appreciated.
To Sgt Chad: Thanks! I had the "History is written by the victors" quote in mind too.
Oops, I meant Sgt. Cook. Sorry.

"History is both an excited and amazing subject, but can you trust it?" YEA sounds like an opening to a movie trailer :D

With the advent of the written word, mankind has been able to record its history, though the absolute truth is rarely ever known. History, belongs to the the victor or the ruling party, yet there are always two sides to every story.

A good example of your thesis statement is the whole Mutiny on the Bounty situation. Captain Bligh has always been portrayed as a cruel ship captain .yada yada yada. He was actually the least cruel captain in the British Navy and was a pretty decent guy.

Or you can mention how in ancient times, the winner of a battle would have all the references to the losers name chiseled off of monuments so their name would be lost to history.

Your opening could be something like:

The study of History is not a perfect science. Though we are "doomed to repeat it", there are many ways of looking at history and analyzing it with a modern eye. Everyone who has recorded any bit of history has imprinted their own personal bias or documented things based on their own perceptions. But people's perception's are not proof and history is more like an unfolding story with constant rewrites than something that can be definitively carved in stone. I will show you why . . . . yada yada (thesis statement)
