HELP ! :( i think i broke my palm pixi?

so , my charger to my palm pixi broke & i had to wait a few days before getting a new one . so i have been charging it really " ghetto like " by striping a usb cord & rigging it like that , it was working fine til' new years eve when i fried my battery . i didnt know it was fried though & i kept pushing the power button , i think its stuck or broke now . my mom ordered a new battery for amazon that just came , & my phone will not turn on while its on the charger . is it possible that i fired my phone ? help please :'(
