I need a lot of help guys...

I'm giving a speech in the next couple of weeks in front of a LARGE audience (the largest yet!), and I am scared out of my mind!! I can't use notes up on stage, and I am sooo nervous! :(

It's not even the day before my speech, and I'm already scared! We've gone through rehearsal and everything, but I'm still nervous...even during simple rehearsal! I'm sitting here at work not even being able to concentrate on anything but that speech! I feel like I'm slowly going crazy. :dizzy: I'm shaky, my stomach has been upset for days, and I'm really on edge. I don't know what to do!

I know that I've had an anxiety problem for years now, but it seems like ever since I reached my mid-20's my anxiety problems got even WORSE! I'm open to any suggestions anyone has. I've already tried deep-breathing exercises, and tried to imagine myself in peaceful surroundings, but it just doesn't work that well.

I can see being nervous maybe the day before, or the day of a speech or presentation, but to be sooo nervous that you're actually nervous 2 weeks BEFORE the event isn't "normal" . :(

Help! What can I do to calm myself down?? I want to do a good job, but I'm afraid that if I don't calm down, I'll either forget my lines, pass out on stage, or get sick or something. I know these fears are probably irrational, since I usually always end up doing well during presentations, but I just can't shake the "scared" feeling. What can I do?? Please somebody help!

Everyone gets stage fright, difference is you get the exact same anxiety as everyone else, but because of your past anxiety issues you blow the anxiety way out of proportion, when other people would just shrug it off. Don't worry, I do the same thing ^_^

I don't have any quick fixes I'm sorry as most of the effective treatments for anxiety that I know of are really taught perons to person. My advice, take a step back from your thoughts and realise that you're anxiety is feeding you anxiety - the moment you stop worrying about being scared is the moment the cycle is cut.

Wow! I use to have that problem. I had a job that required to do public speaking quite often. I thought that over time that I would get use to it, hoping it would go away. Well it never did. Luckily I got a new job...Thank God!!! After that is when I realized that I was dealing with anxiety, and later was diagnosed with anxiety when I start having full blown panic attacks for other reasons. Had I known then what I know now, I probably would have seen a doctor to get a prescription for something that would help to calm me before any of my public speaking events. There are several things out there to help with this, its probably best to speak with your physician to see what works best for you. I'm sure it will work out for you. God bless.
