:^/ On my Trēo there is a service code ##EVDO#, (or ##3836#,) which gives one the choice to switch 1x off, or EVDO off. If you can connect to the Internet with 1x switched off, then you've definitely gotten EVDO working correctly. However, phone calls come in on 1x, so you'll want to switch that on again after you're done testing.
I know not whether other models will do that too, but it works for me, and demonstrates that 1050 is definitely an EVDO PRL. However, it is incorrect to say that it is a Cricket PRL in that it wasn't created by Cricket and they do not support it. Rather, we could say that it was "Cricket compatible," in that it uses Cricket's towers and thus works with Cricket service. It's the one I've used for over a year now, with no problems.
