TO WHAT EXTENT DID THE CRITICISMS OF COMMUNISM FROM CITIZENS OF THE EASTERN EUROPEAN SOCIALIST STATES CHANGE OVER TIME?

Well, at first, all propenants were completly forward it, marxism itself is a perfect idea. But when it started getting "hot and heavy" the government had really siezed control and the people already had no way out. I'm sorry if I can't clear this up better!
 
Hungary criticised the Soviet Union in 1956--the Soviets sent tanks.

In East Germany, the Soviets built the Berlin Wall.

Poland protested in the late 80s and eventually won their freedom.
