i have been looking over these two questions for the last few days and really have no clue how to go about doing them correctly, any help would really be appreciated!
A quality control manager must assess the quality of shipments of 30 components received by the manufacturing department. Rather then assess each component a sample of 6 is randomly taken and tested. The quality control specification is that if there are 2 or more defectives are in the sample then the quality manager must reject the shipment. suppose there are actually 5 defective components in this shipment of 30.
(i) how many possible samples of size 6 could be drawn from this shipment of size 30?
(ii) How many of these samples will not contain a defective?
(iii) What is the probability that the sample contains no defectives?
(iv) What is the probability that this shipment is rejected?
