HELP! I did my Kegel Exercise wrong?

So when I found out about Kegels and, I read that you have to put pressure on it. I thought it meant to push your PC muscle with your finger...I realized I've been doing it wrong the whole time and have been for quite a while now. I think I did some damage to my PC muscle because now it's very soft and weak...if I do them correctly now (I just found out how to do them properly) will doing them properly undo the damages I had done?
