Help !! , How can I reset my password on my Sony vaio notebook ?

My sister gave me her sony vaio laptop and I can't reset the password because this message pops up >> " This feature requires removable media such as a floppy disk or a USB flash drive "

I already tried putting in an empty USB but I still can't reset the password.
Help please !!
