Power is ok going uphill, but when I let go the gas then press it again, I can feel there's something intermitently knocking back on the foot. This problem come on and off so it's really hard to diagnose it. I cleaned out the EGR and swapped the EGR valve, swapped the main relay, changed the fuel pump/filter, replaced the distributor cap/rotor and wires. There were two codes that I had before: P0420 and P1738. I already addressed the P1738 by replacing the pressure switch. It solved another problem, but it doesn't solve this problem. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the ignition coil or the TPS sensor. Thank you in advance for the help.

have you cleaned out the IAC valve and passages? when you release the accelerator the engine Idle Air Control valve takes control of the engine so that it doesn't stall. The IAC is a stepper motor. If the valve is sticking from carbon you may be feeling that. carbon on the IAC, in the IAC passages and on the throttle plates is not unusual on that car.

second, did you check the motor mounts? the front mounts break and will cause the engine to shift when you torque the engine or release torque as you are doing when you accelerate and release the accelerator. you would definitely feel a broken mount in the accelerator as the engine would be moving more than normal.

just some thoughts. hope they help
