:confused:I have had bad acid reflux for years, But have always been able to control the burning with meRAB and still can, My problem is I get this (On a scale of 1 to 10)
!0 pain in my chest that moves into my jaw and arms, It mostly happens at night and last for about 5 minutes then stops for maybe an hour then starts again, It's the kind of pain that you pray will stop. I sleep in a recliner to try and keep the acid down, It helps with the acid and burning, But not the pain, I was on Chemo a few months ago for lung cancer, But at present it is in remission Has anyone else had this type of pain? What did you do about treating it? What is the title of the Doctors that treat acid reflux? I went to one about 15 years ago when the acid problem first started, But I forgot there title. I'm living on S.S. and a fixed income, So I don't want to go to my G.P. Doctor, all he ever does Is send me to another Doctor and charge big bucks to me to do it. I would like to cut him out and go to a Doctor I need. It hurts so bad some times I kind of wish the Chemo didn’t work, I might be in a better place by now and out of all this pain.
Thank you for any help.
God bless

First I want to say congratulations, I am glad the chemo worked. I think what you are getting in your chest is esophageal spasms, they pretty much feel like one would think is a heart attack. I have been getting them since 1981. In the beginning, I did not take anything for them, I had just went thru a esophagus rupture, so I did not want to take anything, but I learned later that you can take muscle relaxers. I used to and most of the time still do eat soda crackers to make this go away, sounRAB crazy, but there is something about the soda that makes it work. Give it a try, believe me, I know what you are going thru. The doctor you need to see is a Gastroenterologist. Good luck and keep us posted as to how you are doing.

Thank you so much I followed the link in your post to a 5 star Gastroenterologist
in my area, At present he can't see me until July 19 th, But after talking to them for a few minutes, They are going to try and get me in sooner. They told me if it is that bad maybe I should go to the ER, I told them I'm sorry but the ER is a joke.
But I will try your crackers,
Again Thank You

Young61, I agree, the ER is usually a joke. I recently went to the ER in my area because I had a piece of chicken stuck in my esophagus, I have no motility in my esophagus, so I try to eat things that will go down easily. I was eating chicken salad, why it got stuck is anybodys guess. Anyway, I was there for 3 hours, never say a doctor, in the end, it went down by itself and and I checked out without seeing a doctor and went home. I got a bill for $763.00. for a doctors evaluation. I am in the process of appealing this bill. In my opinion the ER's in California are worthless.

I Totally agree, ER stanRAB for ( enter at your own risk.)
I broke my leg a year ago, And waited to the next day to
go to a leg and foot doctor to get it set.
Before I found I had lung cancer I went to a Pulmonary Consultant about 4 times because I was having a hard time breathing, He took a nuraber of x-rays and only gave me medication to help me breath, He never did send me for an MRI even though he knew my past history of lung cancer. After I gave up on him and went to another GP that had me get an MRI and told me I had 3 months to live because of the lung cancer, I called the Pulmonary Consultant and told him he screwed up, He said he was sorry. I told him If I lived or died I wanted my co-pay payments back or I would take him to small claims court and gave him 10 days, He tried to tell me he didn't give refunRAB, But on the 9th day I got a check. Doctors think they walk on water, Well I'm here to tell them they put there pants on one leg at a time just as I do.

And by the way after I went to the Pulmonary Consultant and gave up I went to my GP that I have had for twenty years after he sent me to get and MRI
he told me I had 3 months to live and he would set me up with Hospice, A person from Hospice came to my home and we talked, I wasn't afread of dyeing I just didn't want the pain. The Lady from Hospice asked me if I had seen an Oncologists? I said no, I didn't know what that was, She explained and a week later I saw one, He said there is know cure for Lung Cancer and because most of both of my lungs had been removed over the past 15 years he could not cure the lung cancer, But may be able to lengthen my lift a few months or years, At first I said no, But my Family said to at least try. So I did I took Chemo four 4 months and the cancer went into remission. What I'm trying to say, Is if it is acid reflex or cancer DO NOT GIVE UP. And if a Doctor or Hospital gives you bad information, Give them a fight they wont forget and get rid of some of these Doctors that should be working at home depot.

I wholeheartedly agree with you! It took me 2 years to find a good doctor to tell me I actually had no motility in my esophagus, while the whole time I could not swallow, until it got so bad, I could not swallow even my own saliva. I went to 7 specialists who told me I was constipated......what a joke that was. I did finally end up at UCLA, there are some good Doctors there.
