Help me find the title and author of an amazing book?
I read a book about a boy who lives with his grandmother and brother (maybe called Robert I dunno its vague) A girl comes to live with them because it is set in the war and she's an evacuee. They make friends with her, and the boy and his brother show her the land they believe in. they have an imaginary friend who keeps watch for enemy's from across the lake. The girl later falls in love with a boy from over the lake. The main character (the boy) is so jealous because he liked the girl that he locks them in the bunker and they die. The brother leaves but the boy still believes in the land and stays in the house after his grandmother dies. Many years later they plan to knock down the house and he tries to prevent this.
