Help get my jeep running?

1986 Jeep Cherokee. Needed a new battery, got one, put it in. We can start it now but after about 5 mins it just dies. What are possible solutions? What could cause this if the starter and battery are good?

Note: Haven't driven it in a year so it's sat there. Maybe that's the reason..
 
Do you have a meter to see if the alt. is putting out. if you are jumping it off then this might be the problem. Usually a fuel filter will cause it to die when reving it up.

No Need For A New Fuel Fileter. Get Some Fuel Adjustment Stuff, At Any Hardware Store For Like 5 Bucks. And Put It In Your Tank. Let It Run For A Bit The Adjustment Fluid Will Clean The Carberator, And The Car Will Run Like A Champ. JMHO. -Vic.
