My analyzation: [It's pretty late here so I'm just going to bullet the ideas. Hope that's not a problem.
]
- reference to Uncle Sam posters, in order to recruit people for Nam
- Terry Jones, Florida Pastor, who said he wanted to burn the Koran/Quran (why is "Quran" not an accepted alt. spelling on here?) on 9/11. Feeling it'd be best for his religion & what Jesus wanted
- What would Jesus Burn?= play on What Would Jesus Do? A question many religious Christians ask themselves.
- Al-Qaida= the people.. rather terrorist group who conspired to take down the twin towers
QUESTION: I know the link is that Terry wanted to burn the Quran b/c Muslims attacked the Twin Towers. Al-Qaida was the terrorist group. However am I right in saying that the reasons that the Al-Qaida man is resting his arm on Jones is adding fuel to the fire for terrorists? And that the cartoonist believes by burning the Quran it would just make additional Muslims angered and join the Al-Qaida? Is this right? Or am I completely off the mark here? This is just for homework. I'm in 10th grade and I'd just really like for my first homework to be fully correct. :] Am I trying to overanalyze and what I have is fine? Or is there something I am missing? I admit I'm not that culturally literate so it's VERY plausible I'm missing another component to this cartoon. Thank you for all your help.

Thank you
Sorry like I said I bit fuzzy on this stuff.. :/ especially since I'm not thinking very much right now. I can't believe I made such gaffes... I don't why I said Nam considering I was thinking of how Rosie the Riveter at the same time & they're both in the same period. WW2.
To clarify: I meant no offense by stating that Jone's motivation was thinking it was what Jesus meant. It was just the gist of the other cartoons all hinting that as in to play up the ridiculousness. So that's the only reason why I stated that as a reason. :] So please excuse that.
@mattle: thank you
I picked up on the 2nd one but I didn't pick up on the first.Perhaps that was why I felt I was missing a further part which fully connected the whole thing.
