Help for Spore: Civilization Stage (economic)?

When you start the stage and play for a bit, it needs you to buy another city by starting a trade road or something. But on my island there are NO OTHER CITIES?!?! and Land vehicles cant travel across water.... so.... HELP! :(
 
It looks like uve got a problem wait and see if any cities pop up if they do then u need to capture any spice geysers on the island and one should or try and get sea vehicles
