Help for going to college?

At the moment I am at a community college. Because of money issues when I got out of high school (in 2008) I wasn't able to afford to go to a university. I will be graduating after this next semester (spring 2011) with an Associate in Arts. I would like to go university and major in Physics. But I'm starting to run into problems with a lot of colleges.

For example I was looking into the Physics program at UNC Charlotte, and with the classes I already have it would tale me quite some time to get my Bachelors. With the way most colleges have their prerequisites set up and what semester you can take a class, I’m having some difficulty.

Fact is I don’t want to be at college for another 4 to 5 years trying to obtain a bachelor’s in physics, because how they have everything set up. It’s already taken me 3 years just to obtain my Associates. To think that it will take me 6 to 8 years (total college time) to finish up with a BS is mind numbing. I was hoping to go in and just to the normal 2 years to obtain my BS, then go on to a masters, and possibly a PhD.

The way everything’s set up, I would have all my history, english, and elective classes out of the way. The only classes I would have to take are higher level math’s and science classes. But the way they have their science and math classes set up, I would have to go semester by semester taking 6 to 9 credits. A very slow pace and I can’t go faster or jump ahead cause of the prerequisites required.

I don’t know what to do, I could be looking at this all wrong (please tell me if I am). I want to finish my BS on schedule, no more than 5 years and keep moving on. I definitely don’t want to be in school forever.

Also half the reason why it will probably, take so long is due the fact I have no physics classes or higher math classes done yet (i.e calculus)

Please Help
