Help for a New Waitress (And not doing so hot...)?

I just started at an Italian restaurant uptown of where I live, and I haven't been doin' so hot.
I've been trying to hard, I really have, but all I seem to do is frustrate the owner and the waitress who's training me. Mind you, she's been working 12 years as a waitress, and me? This is my second week.

I'm still working on knowing the menu and I'm now trying to work on remember all the tables I pick up as well as staying friendly throughout it all, but in all of this, I still seem to get on everyone's nerves no matter what.
Except for the cooks; they're cool.

What can I do, though? I really wish it could be one of those things where I could jump right in and be awesome super-waitress, but I'm not and I make a lot of mistakes...

What can I do to get better faster, just so I'm not so much of a nuisance, at least?

(I'm opening shift on my own tomorrow... God, I hope I don't screw up.)
