Help finding books or documentaries on crime in America?

I have a college paper to do about why America is the most violent industrialized nation and I need to have sources outside of the internet. Are there any books I can check out in the library, or any documentaries that can be suggested that may be helpful to me?

I'd like to look into the rates of the types of crimes in America, as well as comparisons to other industrialized countries.

violent crime in america is lower per head of the population than many other countries, one reason may be that you have to be sure the guy isn't armed before you tackle him, in england you are not allowed to attack a burglar on your property and if he runs away and you chase him you will be guilty of assault if you attack him. But remember all crime statistics in every country are falsified by the governments in the us it is estimated there are 70% more crimes reported than are actually logged, if a guy robs three stores in an hour that is logged as one crime, but three charges, in plea bargains criminals are encouraged to admit crimes they couldn't possibly have committed just to clear up unsolved crimes and make the statistics look better
