Help finding a tv movie.

I remember seeing it in school many years ago. From what i remember the teacher who showed us it had taped it off tv many years before so i know its quite old now. All i remember is it was more like a play.Very theatrical, not in the way the actors acted but in terms of the layout, it was obviously done in a studio.
The story starts off with this rich family having dinner, i think they have some guests. I think something happens .....maybe a storm or something, the lights go out or something. If i remember correctly, a policeman turns up at the door.....cant remember the reason, maybe someone was killed or there was an accident. I think it was an accident. Then theres some kind of friction between those having the meal, i think some characters leave. Theres no point in me mentioning what i think happens next as it could be bad memory on my part but near the end one of the characters makes a phone call to the police i think and enquire about it, they give the description and its identical to the policeman?/person who came to the door earlier......giving the impression that it was actually a ghost who visited them.

I could be remembering details wrongly but surely someones heard of it. I think i remember their being the issue of class forced. This really rich family and tensions round the dinnertable etc. I dont know if it was the man who shows up saying a family member was killed or injured or something, or the father in the room was frienRAB with the police or something. I think there was a daughter who gets sent upstairs to her room at one point.Infact now i think about it, the 'occasion' their all having dinner might be that someone is getting married? Oh i dont know! If anyone knows what im talking about it would be really good.

Yeah thats it, although the one i watched was in colour and i dont remember it being in 3 90 minute parts like imdb lists. I remember it being watched in one class, although it could have been a shortened version

Its nice to have 2 young people on here who are helpful and can help more maturer people like myself to remember these things.

Come to think of it theres a book i did in Primary School but......no......stick to what your good at thats what i say! lol.Ill keep that for another forum.

You sure it doesn't mean 3 x 30 = 90 minutes.

And I watched the 1954 version in school, they had recorded it off of Channel 4. The DVD came out as well but that was pretty rare to get now the last time I checked. And the fact they changed the Inspector's name from Goole to Poole completely ruining the ghost idea! :D

There have been many variations on An Inspector Calls, so you could have viewed many number of them. My guess is that you were watching a BBC TV Schools' programme.:)
