I live in caledon east which is just outside to ont.i want to install a complete stock exhaust back onto my bike and remove the v&h long shots that are on there now.but here is the question,i have a 2000 classic with heads that were done by head quarters, big bore kit,k&n filter,s&s cams and i belive that is all that was done by the last owner.it is a f/i bike with i think a power comander by dyno jet (if that makes senese) can i just install the stock headers and mufflers put it on a dyno somewhere and all is good?i know i will loose power which i am ok with that i just want it to run as well as it already does and be as reliably as it already is, i am afraid of it overheating or pinging?thanks

If the bike can't breath which is what it sounds like its been set up to do, its never gonna run the same as with the free flowing exhaust on it. With a proper tune it will run as good as the guy runnin the dyno can get it.

I have 1 tuner that says he can set up my bike no problem and another that says he will not touch it as he says it will not work? All i know is i need to make my bike quite. Thanks

Does the new law specify stock exhaust, or just a noise level? If the noise level, you may be able to get by with a set of V&H Monster Ovals or Monster Rounds. These are the quietest performance pipes currently available.

If they did the "do nothing to raise sound level above stock" thing some locals have done, you will need to park the bike until you can afford to take the whole engine back to stock. The big bore kit, cams, air cleaner, etc will make it much louder than stock, even with the stock exhaust put back on. Yes, you can have a loud restricted flow exhaust...

Good luck!

I called v&h and they do have a quite baffle but the tech told me it is not that quite?Well i guess i will install the stock mufflers and header pipe and bring the bike to a dyno tuner and hope it will run good. Thanks

Putting the stock exhaust system on will not make it quiet. You will have a loud bike that runs poorly, even after a dyno tune. You will find this out for yourself shortly, though.

I don't understand how stock mufflers will not work, but i guess i will have to try it and learn the hard way.A buddy of mine told me to try the mid us slip on mufflers,i was told they perform and are quite.

It isn't that they won't "work", but they are designed for the original engine displacement with the stock cams and air cleaner. Your big bore kit, cams, head work and AC all work to increase air flow. The stock mufflers will be a little quieter, but still a lot louder than when everything was stock, and will get louder quickly as the last of the baffle wrap gets blown out.

Again, good luck...
