My MSF classes are sheduled next month.. for now I've just been practicing around my block.
I still don't understand down shifting that well. Especially at a higher speed.
If I was on the freeway in 6th gear and I need to slow down and get off the next exit, is this what I'm supposed to do?
Press on the brake until I get to about 4k-3k rpm. Then, when it's there, let go of the break, pull the clutch in, downshift, then do I quickly or slowly let the clutch out?
I ask because I always feel a jerk when I shift down, so I guess I'm not doing it correctly.
Also, I read that your real wheel can lock up if you shift wrong. How does this work? (not that I want it to lock up, just want to avoid it)
If it helps, I'm riding an 05 Ninja 250.
I've also been told that the clutch will wear out quickly if you slowly let it out as opposed to letting it snap back. Is this true?
What is "slipping" the clutch?
