There's this guy in another town 5 hours away that is friends with my friends. I've been flirting with / hooking up with him for about 3 months. I go down to visit my friends there once every 3 weeks or so and I'm moving there at the end of the month.
We don't message or call each other - he's good friends with my friends bf so he comes over and we all hang out. Last weekend I went down there and my friend said that he'd been mentioning that I didn't seem keen on him so he was just giving up.
So I decided to make more of an effort because I do really like him. Friday was his birthday so I sent him a message at 1am on saturday morning saying "hey connor! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Ok so it's one hour too late - but its the thought that counts right? Hope u had an awesome day xo jeska"
At 9am he sent back saying "I thought 'd never hear from you again.. thanks, it was very thoughtful you remembered

On Sunday night I sent "Hey you Y did u think u'd never hear from me again? How was ur birthday anyway?" He replied "Hey the bday was good, had a bit of a party last night, got a bit of a sore head today. Sorry I thought u were someone else when I wrote that I was drunk sorry "
I was so hurt by that.. so I didn't reply and I called my friend that knows him. She said he was probably lying about thinking it was someone else.. he was probably just embarrassed that he wrote that to you when he was drunk and now is trying to act cool.
An hour later I got a message from connor saying "You not talking to me?

I sent back saying "sorry was driving home, sounds like you had an awesome weekend. What r u up to tonight?"
He replied "Just kickin back at home might watch a movie u?"
About an hour later I sent "just in the valley getting dinner, can't wait to shower watch a movie in bed when i get home haha"
The next night (last night) I sent "Man I wish u were here drinking with me right now, at least u stay awake - all my mates have passed out already"
He goes "Haha yeah just havin a couple now pussys hehe"
I replied "Haha yes they definately are. Hey I heard Cotton Eye Joe today - instantly thought of you doing that dance"
He goes "Haha best dance ever! It was so hot at work today, watd u get up to?"
I said "Haha Im not sure i'd go as far as to say its the best dance ever.. it was definately different I had today off so I just cleaned the house and took my dog for a run on the beach. U doin much tonight?"
He goes "Na just jumpin into bed i've got to work tomorrow best dance ever!"
I replied "Haha you definately did not look like a loser goodnight xo"
